Turnaround of freight wagons, 24 hours

* The decrease in freight wagon turnover was achieved by improving the organisation of the transportation process. At the same time, the trends in empty wagon turnover are also associated with a change in the structure of the working fleet. Thus, due to the growth in the number of unused rolling stock, the turnover of empty wagons slowed in December. Every day, more than 230,000 wagons lay idle and unproductive in an empty state, and not involved in operations, for more than three days on the Company’s infrastructure and non-public tracks, 21% more than in the same month in the previous year. The number of empty wagons in freight trains set aside from transportation amounted to 32,000 units daily.

The wagon turnaround time is the period spent on the operational cycle from the moment that one loading is completed to the moment the next loading is finished or to the wagon’s delivery or return in a loaded or empty state, that is, the average time the wagon spends on one shipment. This is the main indicator of the quality of the freight wagon fleet’s utilisation.
